The swap of tanks for the Shrimp was a success yesterday, if you’re unsure of why I moved him then it’s because of this guy who is settled nicely and used to humans (He was in the LFS since June 4th 21).

I cant see him in the tank this morning but he’s most likely hiding. Here he was in acclimation (He dropped his claw in the net).

Looking good!
Thankyou! It’s unfortunately not what people expect a 2 year old tank to look like but hey, I’m hoping to get some easier SPS in there soon so there isn’t just the one lonely bit of Monti in the center.

Every tank is beautiful in its own way, I would recommend a hirsuta monti they are fast growing and have nice growth patterns. Maybe go with the trend and add a torch, your tank seems like it would appreciate the moving effect. Keep up the good work!

If I remember correctly, montipora hirsuta is the elkhorn coral right? They do have the beautiful patterns! I have a torch in the back right corner but unfortunately don’t show it much due to it being one head and the other heads got wiped out by flatties.

Yep they are elkhorns. Sorry to hear about your torch, I lost a few along with my hammer garden to brown jelly disease. Once yours grows it will be a stunner.

I cant wait for it to grow back to the 15-25 head coral it once was. They’re truly beautiful as the bushy corals they’re known to be.

I’ll keep an eye out in my LFS for any elkhorn! I love the look of them and they seem to grow at a similar pace as Staghorn can.

The rough road got even tougher, first hard death occurred today.

I lost the tilefish unfortunately. No idea why but three-four days ago he jumped and never came out to eat. I tried to dig him out to get food in him but he was weak so I put him in a net, covered it with a towel and went out for a few minutes, came back home to check on him and he was unfortunately mouth wide open, not breathing and dead in the net.

Sorry for your loss he was a beautiful specimen. My hardest death was my pelicieris wrasse that died in a similar way to yours.

It’s annoying how some fish die and we can only be left with multiple causes yet no ends. He had some beautiful colours even in death, just gotta keep an eye out for another one or pair I guess. Annoying how one day a fish can thrive then the next day begin to die.

So, it’s not in the tank however I have no idea if he’ll go straight to the rocks when he’s added in sooo, here’s my new flashing tilefish!

I know the photo is bad but it’s the best I can get today. Nobody seems to be annoyed at the bad though so I’m glad he’s going in just a few hours before lights out! For sure going to keep an eye out tonight (Maybe not go to sleep until he does).
Man, looking back through this thread really shows how long I owned this fish. Going to my LFS today in hopes they’ve tracked down another (Hopes are low as it’s only been a week of them going). Man it’s definitely upsetting losing a fish that grows on you, I didn’t expect him to gain my heart quite so fast in the LFS but he definitely caught my attention there.

Some photos I got this morning (The CBB is the easiest to grab a photo of due to it not being camera shy haha).

How are you going with the copper and in that size tank? How have you been able to get it to eat? Great build by the way! Sorry to hear all your losses.
