Hey everyone,

I am in the process of rebuilding/redesigning my fish room for my 500 gallon DT. It is currently housed in a 6x8 rubbermaid shed but I am looking for more room to be able to setup frag tanks, quarantine etc all in one place. The current fish room was a quick install when moving in and something I've never been happy with. I have a blank slate to go with as I will be building it on the outside of my home near the current room. Does anyone have any recommendations/sizes they recommend for certain things? I will be making a mixing station, separate quarantine, frag system, as well as an electric/automation board with all of my controllers etc. I will be posting pictures shortly to get everyones input.

Thanks!

Cool setup, even in you "he-shed" out back :)

So what's the current tank like? Would love to see some of the display!

Good luck with you add-on

Current tank is a 505 gallon 9ft long glass display with dual overflows. Been setup about 2 years, but didn’t start adding corals etc until about a year ago. Going through a little nuisance algae phase at the moment due to increasing lighting period and heavy feeding lately. Should resolve itself in a few weeks.

The weather has been quite poor last few days so haven’t been able to get started on the new design yet, as well as finishing up a honey do list. Should be able to get something started hopefully tomorrow.

I haven't made much progress lately as I have been traveling a good bit for work, but did manage to pickup a few goodies for the new room.

Mixing water pump (way overkill but couldn't beat the price) and a frag tank light.

So after some quotes (outrageous) I am having to redesign what I want to do. The current shed is starting to fall apart and it is completed packed with equipment and even a small frag tank recently added. I am considering a substantially larger shed made out of wood that I could insulate, seal the wood against water damage from the inside, and install the air conditioning unit to take up a little less space. Hardware stores have 12x12 sheds at decent prices that could offer some room for customization. One of the biggest things I don't like about the current shed is the size, and the wiring mess. In the meantime if anyone has any ideas I am open to suggestions. BUT, since everyone likes pictures I will share a few pictures of the main tank from last night. Finally got the algae under control, and added 2 Ecotech Radion G5's to the mix.

Love the cube refrigerator, by the way. The day I put one in my fish room and got all the frozen fish foods out of the kitchen my wife’s attitude toward my project noticeably improved! Lol! :)

Well, nearly 3 years later I am finally making some progress on the build. The tank went through a coast phase where everything was doing great, but honestly outgrowing the tank. During Christmas this year I did a small aquascape change, changed up some fish, removed large corals that were taking up too much space, and FINALLY started the outside shed build. Have made a good bit of progress in the past 2 weeks, and hope to have it mostly finished in another 2 weeks except for small things like the controllers mounted etc. I want to take my time on those to make sure I am happy with their location.

Here is the framing getting started. The tank was still running at 100%, so decided to build around the shed and take my time, until it was time to move the sump
