Hello everyone,

My name is Peter, and I live in the south of Bavaria, Germany.

On January 1st, 2024, I started my new tank. I got into the hobby about 12 years ago with a 30l / 8g nano. After that, I had a custom DIY 200l / 52g and a also custom DYI 570l / 150g reef tank, but only with simple corals like soft corals and mushrooms.

How it started:

The equipment I use at the moment:

Tank: Aqua Medic Armatus 575XD (150x65x55cm)
Lights: 2x ATI Straton Pro 102 (thinking about upgrading to a 3rd one)
Flow: 2x Tunze Stream 3 with OceanMotion rotation units
Return Pump: Royal Exclusive Red Dragon X 85w
Skimmer: ARKA Core ACS 180 (Started with a Deltec 1000i - I’m not exactly sure why, but I was never able to set it up properly. The Arka skims much more and more reliably then the Deltec, but it's also a bit louder and the build quality is not as good as the Deltecs.)
ATO: Tunze Osmolator 3
Dosing: 2x D-D H2ocean Pro dosing pumps - dosing Sangokai Basic (trace and micronutrient supply) and Balance System (KH, calcium, magnesium)
Miscellaneous: Reef Factory PH Meter, Reef Factory Thermo Control with 300W titan heater and Blue Marin 800 chiller for cooling in the summer, UPS system to power the Tunzes a few hours in case of a power outage.
Rocks: ARKA myReef Rocks (dry dead rock)
RODI: ARKA myAqua1900 with a added 4-liter resin filter and TDS meter

This was about 10 days after the start:

So far, I am quite happy with the growth and how the corals are doing, especially since these are my first attempts with SPS and especially acroporas. The polyp extension of most SPS corals isn’t great yet, and there is certainly room for improvement in terms of color as well - I'm working on that points :)

Thank you all!

Here is a picture with a growth comparison between a few corals from January 12th (12 days after the start) and a few days ago, September 11th. I have nothing to compare it to, but I am quite satisfied. :)
