This tank has been in the planning stages for about 6 months now, and parts are finally starting to show up. Tank is a Planet Aquarium 75 gallon rimless, internal overflow with 1” drain and 3/4” return- it will sit on an R&J Enterprises stand, with a Trigger Systems Triton 34V2 sump, a 5 gallon Triton ATO res, and will be doing Full Triton Method and plan to do an LPS dominated tank with several gardens and a nice gradual shelving scape.

I scored a used pair of Hydra 64’s, and recently purchased the Prime Refugium LED to light up the 11 gallon fuge. Also snagged a Bubble Magus Curve 5 Elite, Sicce Syncra 5.0 return, and a couple other goodies.

I plan on running a Hydros Control 4 with a JBAquatics button box, a Hydros WaveEngine with 2 OctoPulse 2’s, InkBird controller with dual Eheim 150w heaters, and will use a Red Sea ReefDose pump.

Pretty excited as this build comes together. Started a thread to track it all, I’m hoping the tank will be here in the next few weeks.

Already had to call an audible on the skimmer situation. The BM Curve 5 Elite I originally wanted was on backorder, so I went with the Reef Octopus Classic 150INT. Should be a stronger skimmer, I just didn’t want to go too undersized with the 110INT. Also going to take up a bit too much space in the sump, so I’ll need to modify my plans for what carbon and GFO reactors I’ll be using. The 2 Little Fishies reactors look fairly narrow and will be able to hang on the inside of the sump wall even with the lip, and I’ve seen people running them in series so running them both off of 1 manifold output will be doable. Not even too sure if I’ll need a GFO reactor with the size of the fuge that I’ll be running with the bigger skimmer, PO4/NO3 should easily be kept in check, in theory anyways, but carbon will definitely be running.

How much was the stand if you don’t mind?
Great question- just tried figuring it out, I don’t remember exactly because he put the tank and stand on 1 payment, and I don’t recall the breakdown. I believe it was around $600, but I also paid for a custom door on the left side of the stand and also a cutout for the overflow, and those were around $130- so I’d guess between $730-$780 depending on how accurate my guess is.

So been a bit of a mess sourcing a tank. First, Seapora… not available after a few months. Then sourced Planet Aquarium to custom build one same specs. Find out after waiting a couple months that there was a problem with the tank and it needs to be rebuilt, but they won’t have the glass til next month. Now onto Glass Cages… got a rendering, and was able to add a couple holes, plus low iron front glass. Will be able to do Herbie now instead of Durso so I’m happy about that. So… let’s see if this one pans out. Also, another skimmer switch up. Ended up with the Reef Octo Classic 152S for a smaller footprint. Fits perfect with room for a couple Phosban 150 reactors. Got some goodies shipped in too... AI Prime fuge light, skimmer, pump, and some other miscellaneous stuff. Wifey made me some dosing bottles as well!

Fuge light mount and Hydra mounts came in… sump coming together. Still need to lay down new flooring in the room this tank is going in, so will be a few weeks or so before water goes in, plus still need the tank itself, and all the Hydros collective components I’ll be using, pumps, and a few other things.

ATO reservoir showed up today… gonna be tighter under the stand than I was anticipating so I’m going to end up putting an end table next to the stand and a control board on the wall above it. Got a decent plan put together for it. Some more goodies expected to arrive tomorrow from FedEx

Some automation showed up yesterday… plus my dosing pump. Slowly getting there.

Bit of planning but thinkin this for my control board. Originally wanted this stuff under the stand but there’s not room. Going to set up a small end table next to the tank and hang this on the wall directly above the table.

Opted with a single reactor. Went with a Bashsea 4-12… glad I went this route as space was a little on the snug side in this chamber. Also got my Jager TruTemps on the baffle secured with the new Icecap dual heater holder. Slowly but surely the build is coming together. Hydros ATO kit also arrived, and got my dosing bottles bulkheads installed as well.

Cool looking build so far!

I have the wave engine, octo pulse 2 and same skimmer on my 75g as well.

I'm curious to see how the triton method works out. I was thinking of trying it on my 75, but all the additives seemed a bit pricey here in Canada.

How is the flow from the Octo 2’s? Read the 4’s would be overkill but the 2’s seem a bit small… and what did you end up for water depth on your skimmer?

I’m interested in the Triton Method, hopefully it works out!

It's a bit early for me to comment on the flow. I currently only have 4 corals in the tank. They are doing well, but I have a feeling I will need to add one more powerhead as I have some dead spots. I'm going to play around with settings and placement before adding more flow though.

Off the top of my head I don't remember the depth of the skimmer, but I think it's around 8". I remember I have it on the higher end of recommended depth.

Cool, thanks.

My plan for the WaveEngine and Octo 2’s is to have an anti-sync sine wave over the course of 4 hours with a surge of both running high at the end of each 4 hour block. I have a feeling they will need to be set at 100% for their peak times.
