Welcome to R2R!

Recommend that you query through this site about different aquarium setups and methodologies. In this case, one size definitely does not fit all.

Good luck and as you progress, ask this site questions.

I run a 90g with all HoB equipment. I use an aquaclear (or what ever brand) HoB filter. I keep a sponge, floss and carbon in it. Helps with cleaning the surface and floating particles. I also use a reef octo classic HoB skimmer which I love.

I have a aqua clear 110 and I had plans to buy the octopus classic. What about a refugium?

If you want to run a sump then get the eshopps HoB overflow.

Just bought a 1 gallon HOB refugium that I want chato and pods in pretty soon no idea if it is worth advising yet as I have not installed it but at the very least it will be a place to stick more live media
