I decided to get a Ecotech battery back up. I’m only going to run my MP 40 on the battery backup for short power outages. I do have a generator for power outages over two hours.

I will say the battery backup looks quality built. Probably weighs 40 pounds.

Yeah even though I have a generator it takes me about 20 minutes to get the generator hooked up and running. I also keep the generator drained of fuel and winterized. So I’ll have the battery back up to run the MP40’s for short power outages. My generator is not on a transfer switch so if I’m not home it doesn’t run until I get home.

Tank is doing awesome! I think it took me over a year to figure out how to tune the system for growth and color. Anyways, doing maintenance two days ago, long story short I forgot to plug-in my auto top hose back into my Kalk reactor! I waterproofed the stand when I built the tank so it held four of the gallons of water underneath the stand, but then 6 gallons pumped onto my living room floor. My ATO container is either 10 or 12 gallons. I had a water sensor hooked to my ADT security panel that did not go off! I was like what the F! So I’m adding a Hydro check water watcher , and a watch dog water alarm, The water watcher will shut off the ATO if any water gets in the stand. I’m also adding a watchdog water alarm to the inside of the stand. The tank is downstairs everybody was upstairs sleeping nobody heard the avast diaphragm pump running dry. The Avast diaphragm pump is pretty tough! I just filled the ATO container back up and the diagram pump is running quiet like no problem. My floors are waterproof So I was able to catch all the water, shop vac it , and mop it up without damaging in the floor. I hope. Here’s a picture of the fail safe alarms I’m adding.

It seems no matter how you try to control things, issues can still occur sadly.

Last night I happened to look over and see there were no lights on my Inkbird. Apparently one of the switches on my DJ power bar just stopped working after less than a month and I had to rig up an extension cord to get power back to the Inkbird. Water was already down to 73 and had I not noticed, it would have been less than 70 soon enough.

No power= no alarm from Inkbird either.

The tank is 20 months old now. Here’s a little phone video of the tank. Just now getting ready to start putting in more SPS. The Reef is currently LPS dominant. Over the next few months I plan on adding more SPS.
