Any advice? I need to do this but just have not made the time.
This is definitely my first time setting up one, but it didn’t take that long (so far) to be honest. I just looked at where the saltwater barrel was in my basement. Where the tank was? And then figured out how much RO tubing I needed, where I wanted to put the dos (I put mine in almost the middle between my tank and saltwater barrel). I also bought a random pack of RO fittings on Amazon. Then I ordered everything else on BRS and saltwateraquarium.com.

I did use about 6 inches of the original Neptune tubing connected that to the dos and then connected the RO tubing to that using a RO push connect connector.

I am not finished with this yet, but hopefully by this weekend!

So I FINALLY, got the AWC set up and running. I programmed the DOs to do 3 gallons per day equally 18 gallons a week. I set It up to only run between the hours of 1-7am.

I also was told to get some John guest fittings to connect to the DOS instead of the generic gray screw caps.

That’s all for now!

I will be adding my first fish within the next 10 days, they’re almost out of QT!

Its been a while since I updated my thread, but I recently moved my one clown and the one spot fox face in the tank from quarantine. They're doing awesome and loving all the room.

I also bought a small CUC in early December which are in QT right now.

This week I bought a Two spot Bristletooth tang and a bonded pair of Banghai Cardinalfish (Captive Bred) from divers den which came in yesterday. Those are also in QT (different from the CUC QT tank)

Once I get some pictures taken, I will post.

Everything is looking awesome chief. Will be following for sure as i definitely want to setup AWC as well. I wish my 80g deep blue was rimless but i love the tank either way and did a DIY stand which it was complete overkill but better safe than sorry. LOL

Update: tank is doing well! Still only have fish and inverts in it. Waiting for another month or so to add corals.

I did just purchase the Neptune Refugium light so I can start growing some macro algae in the sump. Already added pods and they seem to be doing well.

I do want to look at getting a filter roller for the sump so my skimmer isn’t working so hard since I don’t use filter socks or anything. Let me know if you have some thoughts.

Yesterday I purchased a few new pieces of equipment for the tank.

The first was a Clarisea filter roller 3000 and the second was the new Neptune GRO light.

Thinking about it, with the filter roller, a skimmer, and a fuge, wondering if my nutrients will end up being ultra low haha. First order of business is to set up the filter roller.

Thinking about moving my skimmer in the return section and putting the filter roller in the first chamber of the sump. The middle i want to be for the fuge. There’s no chaeto algae so I’d go with red ogo or something similar. Great to feed the fish too.

Installed the new Clarisea filter roller last night and I can already tell there’s difference. What a great addition to the tank. I unfortunately couldn’t fit my skimmer in the same chamber so I had to move that where I wanted to put my refugium. I bought a Neptune Gro light but don’t think I can use it anymore with not enough space in the refugium section with the skimmer there.

Anyone have any thoughts? Am I better off with the skimmer and filter roller?

Thanks!

Need some advice. Since adding the filter roller, I had to move the skimmer over into my refugium section. I really want a fuge but idk if it’s worth if i have to get rid of the skimmer. Thoughts? See Pictures

Make a custom sump or just a little area with divider if possible to create a little refugium.
How do you like the new edition of the fleece roller? I'm dying to try but don't want to run into a space issue either.

I love it! It’s been what 2 days and I can say it’s already made the biggiest difference from any other piece of equipment I’ve owned. My skimmer doesn’t do much anymore haha

May and June update.

I added a purple tang, a huge cleanup crew, and bought another pack of corals. More euphyllia; 3 hammers, a frogspawn and 3 different types of zoas.

I also added an Aquatic life 48” t5 light fixture with my 2 ai primes on the middle. I am thinking about putting another ai prime in there too.

I also bought another Neptune DOS for doing ATI alk and calc.

A quick update for everyone. I placed a big Coral order a few weeks back and it finally came in, see pictures. I can’t wait to get them glued to the rock work and in their permanent locations! Thanks to @AquaSD
