This is Dr. Saleh Alabdali from Kuwait. It is a great pleasure to be part of this beautiful community forum. I would like to introduce myself as a passionate and reef addict (who isn’t here ). I started this hobby around 16 years ago with a simple 300 L reef aquarium with mainly soft corals and an anemone. The addiction began and the constant hunger for knowledge in the deep science of marine biology, reef species and seawater chemistry. I continued upgrading, and created multiple tanks since that time specially when I moved my home few time.

Of course this hobby is not free from some tragic events from death of precious fishes and corals to flooding and tank crashes. However, each event is a lesson for a thorough aquarist. So I tried to learn from all the mistakes. Not to make this thread long, today I wanted to introduce, in brief, my current multi-tank reef system. Since I started planning for constructing my new house, I dedicated a lot of time to plan a reef aquarium room with decently spacious area to accommodate my dream. A 2 large display tanks, each housing 2 different species of fishes and corals. Since I am a big fan of angelfishes, SPS and LPS, I need to be able to separate some species from each other to maintain all in good condition.

My system consists of 2 large double-side view reef aquariums, as I mentioned earlier, 2600 L each (300 x 100 x 100 cm), interconnected with a large fiberglass sump (with a volume of 1200 L), a frag tank, a refugium and a quarantine chamber for new fishes and corals. In addition to a separate small aquarium of 500 L for Zeovit method (which I am new with), and a separate 250 L hospital tank for treating fishes with medications. I have always wanted to quarantine my new additions, specially fishes. Since I am crazy about collecting some of the most exotic fish species, I didn’t want to risk anything or waste my investment. At the same time, I don’t want to have the headache of maintaining multiple aquariums. So I planned and created a way in which the quarantine tank is connected to the whole system BUT the whole water going to the sump from the quarantine is passing through an intense UV system through what I call (a 1200 L water change chamber made from fiberglass as well). So to I make sure that the quarantine is well maintained with the good parameters of my main system, maintenance free, and does not bring pathogens or infections to my whole system.

My project is still too young (6 months since I started plumbing and making the tanks, 2 months since saltwater is mixed, and a month since I introduced livestock). My large 2 display tanks are still fish and corals free. I have fishes in the quarantine chamber, fishes and corals in the frag tank and few frags in the zeovit tank. Enough talking, and now I leave you with some photos that I hope you will like :)
