SO yesterday was the day! Picked up the 90 gallon tank set up. Guy I got it from said it was going to be cleaned and ready for pick up. It was not. He cleaned equipment but tank was covered, COVERED in Corraline Algae. BUT, it was still a good deal even with all the work that has to go into it. So today we are sanding the stand to paint it to match our house, and soaking tank in vinegar and scrubbing the glass to get this corraline off! Can’t wait to see how it cleans up!

So set up is complete and rocks and sand are in as well as a dead shrimp in the sump to jump start the cycle. Rocks will have to be aquascaped obviously but that is a task for another day as my back is shot from carrying 5 gallon buckets of water to fill 110 gallons! Post your aquascape pics for some inspiration!

Alright, first jab at aquascaping this thing! Will take better pics when water clears up. Viewpoint will be front and left side. (Rocks are not as close to glass on right as they look. There is a rather large cavern in there) What do you think?!

I’d bring those rocks off the glass. Will be a pain to clean and food and waste will settle behind causing water issues. Like the rock work otherwise. Maybe add a little height for higher light corals in the future? Glad you’re up and running!
Thanks! I believe there is a spot I could get my mag float into when necessary. And I’m sure I’ll have to take off top rock to clean every now and then. I don’t plan on having corals for quite some time. I’m sure I’ll tweak this several times while the tank is cycling before adding livestock! Lol

So day 6 of cycling and here are the parameters:
Ammonia 2.0
Nitrites 0.05
Nitrates 20
Ph 7.8

On day 2 I added a dead shrimp to the sump and let it decay for about 4 days. Also added a bottle of quick start. Seachem badge is in so I can quickly check ammonia levels. Impatiently waiting for this thing to be up and running!

First livestock added to tank. Let’s gooo! Also, I had the Tunze powerhead and wave maker on and it seemed to blow the fish around, if that’s a thing. I turned them off because it seemed the fish couldn’t swim without fighting the current. What do you think?
