This is the start to my 90 gallon build. I had some equipment left over from this same setup 6 years ago before I had to move sell everything live that i had and move all my equipment to my new house. 6 years later I am just now getting around to setting everything back up.

For the new setup I am looking at having my sumps setup in the laundry room directly below the tank in the basement.

To start I am working on setting up the sumps and plumbing and will get the tank setup in about a week or so once I have some help to lift it into place :)

Equipment list
  • Bubble Magus Curve 7 Skimmer (using from old setup)
  • Trigger Systems Ruby Elite 30 (using from old setup)
  • Aqueon ProFlex Modular Sump (using from old setup)
  • Ecotech Vectra L2 Return pump (FB Marketplace find)
  • 2 Ecotech Radion XR30 Gen2 lights (using from old setup)
  • 2 Ecotech Vortech MP40 (had one and got another from FB)
  • AutoAqua Smart Auto Water Changer Duo ( For water changes and Auto top off also new)
  • BRS dual Reactor ( Will probably be used for Carbon from old setup)
  • Jebao Doser 2.4 WiFi 4-Channel Auto Dosing Pump ( new addition to help keep calc and alk in check)

Here is a shot of where the tank will be upstairs in the living room. Repainted the stand and holes have been drill through the floor for 1 in pipes. First test ran into the beam Do-oh

For the Dual sump Setup I am looking at having it split between the 2 having a large-ish refugium section split between the 2 sumps with the proflex being all refugium spilling into the smaller refugium section on the ruby trigger sump.

I plan on putting lots of dry rock and rock rubble into these. I have also drilled and put a 1in bulkhead into the proflex sump so it can spill into the trigger ruby sump.

I also have my 4 stage RODI unit mounted to the wall down here. I have a standard 20 gallon tank below the sump to keep top off water in. I'm still deciding on if I want to use a 10gl aquarium or a 20gl long aquarium to use for water changes.

Next Steps are to get new coupling kit for my Vectra return pump and place the main tank into the stand to plumb it into place. ill try and keep everyone updated as I get this tank setup.

What will be in the tank?

Well I would like to keep a mixed reef setup with SPS up high in the tank and LPS down low. will see how it goes. for fish I'm thinking a clown or 2, watchmen goby and pistol shrimp and, six line wrasse to start. Gotta see what's at the stores and catches you eye.

Here is a pic of the old system and what I'm working back to. Minus the out of control pulsing xenia

I did put some hose clamps on the tubing

split the drain into the main part of the sump and have some also go into the refugium section.

Got 100lbs of CaribSea Bahamas Oolite. Hopefully its not too fine and blows around with the 2 MP40 vortechs

And now aquascapeing. using my left over dry rock and a couple new flat pieces I though it went pretty well.

that's a lot more bubbles then I was expecting. I have only added salt and the water clarifier that came with the sand. if anyone has any idea on if this is plumbing related please let me know but I'm going to let it run and hopefully it work its self out. I have tuned the vectra and the display looks good with no bubbles.

full shot of the sump and plumbing.
