So this is my first tank in about 15 years. I’ve been working on it for some time and finally ready to drop in rock and fill. I’m going to be putting in lots of corals so having shelves was a must. I also dig caves so tried to incorporate those. The rock wall took some time to create and I’m aware that it doesn’t look natural. But I’m not going for natural in my artificial reef due to the design of the tank the overflow take up a lot of room on the left side and leaves basically a column. So I created an “obelisk” for that corner that will have some low flow corals. I plan on putting an OctoPulse 2 on right side of the overflow so the back isn’t a massive dead spot.

I think it looks great but I would personally try to get some more rock in the upper section for more vertical interest.

I was watched a bunch of videos including the BRS aquascaping one and I decided to not go any higher that 1/2 the total height of the tank. I do have lots of extra rock so I can always add more to increase the elevation. Where would you add it?

Here’s some top down shots and how I mocked it up. It’s hard to get a clean shot from above because of the eurobracing.

I think it looks nice but not really liking the pillar in the corner. Takes away from a natural reef appearance.
To be honest I’m not got for the 100% natural. I’ve actually seen lots of pinnacles while diving. The shelf on top is probably what throws it off though.

I just re-scaped the right side of the tank. The rocks we're just piled up and I wasn't super happy with. Try to look past the green tint. I put in a few clowns and they and they started to get fin rot so I treated it with Ruby Reef Tally Pro. Unfortunately t'was for not and we lost them. Let me know what you think as the tank is fallow and I'm always open to suggestions!
