It's an old trick Ken Feldman used to use to increase survivability. They seem to not melt when they're in the mother colony. My guess is they sense its presence and try to re-fuse rather than give up on life.Is that not risky? I would be scared any flesh coming off frags that don’t make it might affect the mother colony. Or do all of them survive if you cut the frags and let them sit on top of the colony?
