Honestly, no idea. After watching friends grow coral clean out of the water in their tanks with low pH for years, I'm not sure it really matters that much.
Alrighty. Just thought I would ask. My theory is co2 will build up faster in a smaller volume like ours. Thanks for the awesome thread.

Some of us might think that’s a good problem to have! Everything looks amazing so far. Still working my way through the thread. Wish I could pull this off.

You CAN pull it off. Never let anyone tell you something different.

Looking good. I’m impressed with the complete lack of algae with your nuclear reactor style lighting. Corals look great. What are you using for alk and ca? It must be crazy in the smaller water volume.

Three mp 10s, long pulse mode, 100% power 24/7. *edit* forgot that one of the two that are aimed directly at each other just runs at 100% continuously. So, about 100x turnover. It's still not enough. There really should be 6.

Hey Tony, really awesome corals and tank you have there, really good job! how about you tell us all how you did it from the beginning, what salt did you use, what kind of flow and return pump and most importantly how did you do your cycle and how long before SPS were added and growing?

Sure, the details of my build can be found here: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/after-some-time-off-20in-modded-cube.346125/

but to save everyone some time:
-I use regular old Instant Ocean, as I have for the past 20 years. I tweak the Ca & Mg up slightly.
-Weekly 10% water changes
- infrequent vodka dosing if nutrients start to creep
-25w UV sterilizer plumbed to the return.
-chamber in sump full of live rock rubble, real live rock
- "Fiji" branch rock for the main structure. It wasn't live by the time it got off the boat, but it sat in the LFS vats for a few weeks.
- low-light cycle for maybe a month and a half, followed by a week or two with lights on. Pests were killed off during this time with Berghias and targeted peroxide applications.
- I did add some bottled bacteria at the start, don't remember what brand & don't think it matters.
- like all new tanks, sps didn't really take off until about 6 months in.
- flow is from a blueline hd 40 for the return and three mp10s
