Hi folks,

I'm looking for reassurances here: last week, UPS did not deliver a mail order of small fish/inverts on Thursday as scheduled, and neither did the box makes it Friday. I did finally receive the box a few hours ago here at work. I won't be home for another 4-5 hours. I opened the box (after allowing for light acclimation), and here's a summary of my order:

2 small blennies (alive & look alert)
1 anemone shrimp (alive & looks alert)
1 cleaner shrimp (DOA)
1 Plexaura sp. sea fan (DOA)

My gut tells me to hold off until I get home to open the bags, despite well-intentioned thoughts of getting oxygen in there asap.

What say you? I realize the biggest danger is ammonia spiking/pH dropping once I open the bags and move same water over to open containers.

Respectfully,
Rick

Don’t open the bags!! The air mixing with the bag water will cause the built up ammonia to become toxic. I don’t know all the specifics but that’s the just of it. Something to do with PH I believe...
