The time has come for me to post about “The Very Last Reef Tank” I’ll ever own; I know for many of you this may be only the beginning, but for me it has been a long road to get up to this point (Not only because the endless debate and careful selection of tank and equipment, but also for the nearly 20 years in reef keeping that took me to get to this point).

In essence, I wanted a reef between 40 and 70 gallons that was fairly manageable; something capable of holding a decent size aqua-scape and with enough space for my favorite livestock; something that could carry the necessary equipment without going insanely overboard... But most importantly, something up to par with my skills that I can enjoy developing instead of driving myself crazy with additional challenges that usually tend to turn our loved hobby into one more chore.

So here we go boys and girls, let this be The Tale of Juan’s Red Sea Reefer 250

Thank you for reading

Powerheads

Without question, these have been my favorite for many years, still debating if I should add the URCHIN wide flow guards, as they will be installed in the back wall.

The Filter Media Reactor Manifold Project

Part 1
Continuing with the plans of hard plumbing the Reefer 250, ordered two Aquamaxx Media Reactors with the intention of building a manifold; I honestly think is a great option to help a little with the limited space inside the cabinet.

Now on to figure out all the bits and pieces required for it. A Humongous THAHK YOU goes out to @sithrico for taking the time to cross messages with me to clarify all my questions and helping me out with the shopping list ;)

First 2020 Update

Finally back in the States after back to back short trips overseas (Demolished!!!); even thouth there is nothing major to report proggess wise I find myself a bit against the fence as there is a big chance we may move to a smaller property we have here in Miami as well; if that becomes the case, I may need to stall this build at least for a couple months.

As of today everytning still wrapped inside its origilal retail packaging and in all honest tuth I'm itching to get it started!!!.

Best wishes to all for this new year! :)

Oh no. I am watching your thread because I am actually building a RedSea 250 either today or tomorrow and I will be using almost all of the same equipment as you are, with 1 exception -- the skimmer.

Also, what heater were you planning to use on this?
