I ended up drilling my return lines into the back... (from page 1 of my build)
(wish I put them off to the side a little)
(having the sump up front in the cabinet makes it easier to deal with)

Then I upgraded my manifold: (both mods have paid off in spades)

Hardware store drawer slides used for control-board: (PSUs behind it - RedSea screwed-up copying me)

Current setup (I black-out the fuge to prevent light spillage):
(room behind sump for ATO reservoir next to kalk stirrer.)

He has one through the end piece in the return are that has me stumped on why....think im gonna drill a secondary on the overflow chamber for sure might end up putting a secondary baffle in on the overflow compartment..... how is your return area set up ....idk just seems a little different for the return area....was going to maybe grab a acrylic sheet to fill the space in the overflow section and maybe set up for socks kinda up in the air right now....couldnt beat free and helps me to not have to make another sump..... I will be making my own ato though.....show more pics in the am checking for leaks in the tub tonight to be sure.... how do you like the overflows going directly into the overflow area....what you think socks no socks have you seen any major differences not running socks?

I run a DIY filter floss roller. Before that I made a rectangular box I could slip sheets of filter loss into.
I am a big fan of extruded PVC ceiling tiles and vinyl gutter screens for my filtration (egg crate in a pinch but its thick.)

I have my return pump, another relatively big pump for my water changes (I have to pump the water up into the ceiling then over to the sump room), and a smaller pump for my reactors. Plus, with the two satellite tanks I need all the extra volume I can get for backwash. When the pump stops I'm about 2" from the top in all chambers.
