So I introduced two new acan frags and a blasto to my tank this week. They’ve all been dipped and quarintined as best as is possible in my situation. The one frag opened up yesterday and was looking great so today I decided to feed it some reef roids using a tube, dropping small amounts at a time around the frag. Shortly afterward the acan s acted weird for a short period; the acan pushed its mouths out - protruding upward! It was strange! It soon started to go back in but I was concerned.
By the time I thought to grab my phone and take some pics it had already started going back in.
Also, afterward I noticed a round thing that seems to have come out of one of the mouths.

Any insight? Is that normal?

They seem to be back to normal now, but it was weird! The other acan frag I have didn’t have the same response, it actually seems to have opened up a little more after putting a little food around it.

A joke. Pursed lips on the mouth.
Not uncommon in my lps and nps. Sometimes happens when food hits the water as a feeding response.

Oh my, these Acans have me baffled tonight. What’s going on with the giant bloat? Lol I think they liked the food

Oh the nervous first frags :D

Do you by any chance have a youtube account? Is it possible to video that coral for any water flow issue? That might put your mind to ease.

And for what its worth, this coral goes through many inflate and deflate stages throughout the day. I would still like to look at flow just to make sure we aren't borderline ripping its skin off.

I could definitely do that for you a little later when I’m off work, but This is what the tank looks like. I have a VT MP10 and it’s on about half power at its apex which rarely actlay happens, it typically stays down around a third or less power.

That doesn't seem like too much flow. How often are you feeding it?
