I’ve never paid too much attention to temperature, just keeping it stable assuming my temp probe and heater are close enough to accurate.

I recently started using a tropic Marin hydrometer and since it’s calibrated at 77F temperature I started wondering what my actual temperature is.

So how does everyone verify their temperature when using a TM glass hydrometer?

I use this calculator https://www.hamzasreef.com/Contents/Calculators/SalinityCorrection.php, and from what I see, the temp of the water does not vary that much. Unless you are looking for precise measurements, I would not worry about a few degrees difference either way.

Wow. That’s really not much variation at all. I had no idea the temp had such little impact. The error in my eyeball reading the meniscus is more than that!!

The big issue is not for tank water but for things like new salt water that may be far from tank temp.

I don't bother. My temperature is close enough to 77 that the difference is not enough for me to worry.
I have a few different thermometers and none give exactly the same measurement anyway.
