T5's as the main light source will produce the best colors in acros. You can add whatever LEDs you want for bling for zoas or some highlighting on acros.

Here's my tank t5 only.............I may add some LEDs as supplements, but I want more violets or at least 50/50 violets to blue and no one makes these. In other words I want to produce an LED version that looks similar to what actinic VHO bulbs will do.

ATI or another manufacturer of T5 setup should wise up and create a fixture with the LEDs flanking the bank of bulbs.....not inside.
Thanks for sharing your build thread Big E! You're talking me into staying with the T5s and even changing my bulb combo.

I've somewhat headed down the road your on - coral south africa is all wild/maricultured no name pieces - generally you get to chose to buy brown or bleached reject's they can't sell elsewhere so don't expect a tank stunner from my pics.

Sunpower is an 80W/Radions are G4 pro's

I'm now here & happy with growth from the G4's as much as i was with the t5's

What about the ATI hybrid, other than cost it seems like a winner to me.
Mainly because I have the ATI Sunpower or I can get 3 Radion G4 Pros cheap, so those are the two options I'm playing with right now. [emoji1]

Thanks for sharing! Its so hard sometimes to make a decision, but I guess in those instances, both choices are probably not that different and are close to equally good.

That would be my opinion also, the G4's seem to be more than capable to throw results

If that's the synopsis, then probably sticking with my T5s is probably the better decision since I already own the fixture.

Certainly - & let reefbrite's handle the missing pop factor - lots cheaper

I bought the SBREEF actinic bar with that same intent. I guess I'll be sticking with that setup but changing my bulb combo to Big E's.

Im running the 60" 8 bulb sunpower with a reefbrite actinic bar for highlights. I really like the fixture and dont have much in the way of complaints after a year on the tank. I've not run Radions before, so I cant comment of how they would work versus the T5, but my concern would be coverage. If you get enough radions, you can certainly get the same growth - so really its a crap shoot if you want to drop the cash on the other fixtures. Once you find the right bulb combo, its hard to beat a nice, even coverage of the T5s

Coverage would be a big deal as I'm sure I'll need a 4th Radion to cover the 6' span.
