Thanks for the input so far. I'm particularly interested in thoughts on those two specific fixtures, ATI 8 bulb or Radion G4 pros for those that keep SPS tanks. I should mention I'm no stranger to SPS or running hybrid T5/LED setups.

So let me rephrase, if you were running the dream SPS tank, would your lights be the Radion G4s with additional T5s or ATI T5 fixture with reefbrites/sbreef supplements. [emoji4]

Lets be honest here... looks like you already have this figured out ;) - I would not change a thing!

The honest truth is none of us would be in this hobby if we weren't born tweakers. Let me tweak my lights! I'm dying here! [emoji23]

T5's as the main light source will produce the best colors in acros. You can add whatever LEDs you want for bling for zoas or some highlighting on acros.

Here's my tank t5 only.............I may add some LEDs as supplements, but I want more violets or at least 50/50 violets to blue and no one makes these. In other words I want to produce an LED version that looks similar to what actinic VHO bulbs will do.

https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/big-e-rimless-80g-sps.206607/

ATI or another manufacturer of T5 setup should wise up and create a fixture with the LEDs flanking the bank of bulbs.....not inside.
Hi Big E, what do you think of the Reef Brite XHOs? They claim exactly what you're looking for.
They say the XHOs produce very close effects of VHOs.

Grandis.

I recently switched from 2x 24” reefbreeder photon v2 fixtures to a retrofit t5/kessil setup. The photon v2s were awesome lights and I had huge success the six months that I had them, but I wanted to try the kessil t5 combo everyone is raving about. Gotta day, I’m a huge fan. Awesome shimmer and the killer t5 glow.

Currently running 4x blue+, 2x actinic, 2x kessil a360we and 2x reefbreeder supplement royal blue bars. I’m thinking about adding two more t5’s cause I have the space and wouldn’t hate some white bulbs in the mix for a few hours a day.

Great looking setup!

I'm actually trying to get away from too blue of a look. I feel like I'm getting caught up too much in the super actinic craze. I kind of miss seeing white sand in people's FTS.

I used to run my tank at a 14k look but I wanted to try mostly blue after a recent Jason Fox video and I have to say, after adding the all blue and actinic t5 I have some crazy colors coming out of my SPS that weren’t there before.

Oh, I'm torn just the same with which look I prefer. Its nice to see everything flouresce and show crazy colors under the blue. Its also nice to look at a more normal reef scenery lit by a whiter light. I think after starting this thread, I'm going to back away from the blue/flouresce look and get back to the whiter light mainly because it fits the ambience of the room better and I think my son will appreciate it more as well. I may go 180 degrees in a couple months and go bluer again, who knows. [emoji41]

I'm going with the Aquatic Life fixture on the new tank...just not sure if it'll be the 48" or 60" version yet. I've got the two XR15s and one XR30 sitting in the closet that I had tried to sell a couple of months back but when I saw this new fixture I decided to keep them. Not sure if you remember but I got the radions for the 45g tanks and had taken down the Giesemann down and put up the XR30...then realized I missed the look of the T5s.

Awesome! I'm just going to keep an eye on your build thread then bud and come look for myself how it looks visually in person!

ATI with Kessil. :)

That was my first plan, but my new tank is in a dining room and I've really gone cold on the Aquatic Life fixture, its a bit DIY looking for my application this time. I wish the Kessils at least has a bloody timer on them.

Welp, a Giesemann Aurora or a ATI PowerModule would a nice addition and still cost less than three Gen4Pros ;) Still cant believe your messing with your setup!
I know. It defies logic. I'll fully admit it. Maybe this thread was a good gut check to stick with the T5s. Another thread by boomcorals regarding comparison of kessil and t5/MH has yielded interesting results that has also convinced me to stay with T5s.
