I am in no way an expert still very very new. I’m here to share my results after adding a Chaeto refugium into my display tank. It’s not even been a 7 days and already seeing crazy results!

It’s been over a week since my last water change and nitrates are at or almost 0.(I plan on doing water change soon.)

I had nitrate issues always reading around 15 to 20.

My cabbage coral is showing growth and plops are sticking out.

My bubble tip anemone looks super healthy

I’ve had new hitch hikers good and bad removed the bad ones when noticed

Have a healthy number of copepods on glass

(Just started dosing phytoplankton tonight.)

I had Zoa polyps I picked up from lfs 2 weeks ago never opened. today I looked and noticed one opened.

Sands white. Waters clear. Ph is at 8

Maybe it’s just a coincidence. Only posting my experience for someone thinking about adding Chaeto into display. Hopefully this helps. Please post your experience if you did something similar and had good or bad luck.

I have a 20gal tall tank hob filter nothing crazy. Tanks been up for about 3 months.

@CoralB I thought you would want those to be 0? I also had phosphate issues. Another reason I did this
Noooooo!!! Zero phosphates and zero nitrates leads you on a path to cyano and Dino’s . Phosphates should be between 0.05 and .1 and nitrates 10 - 15 ppm

Interesting I’ll have to get my water tested again at the store and maybe pick up a phos tester thanks for the info !
