I found this from algae barns. Is this true? I'd like a tang.

I don't think they need daily feedings of fresh seaweed, so that part isn't true. Or maybe you should start a poll and ask Tomini owners how many of them are providing fresh seaweed daily? I would guess that fresh seaweed it the exception, not the rule but I don't recall people saying these fish are impossible to keep without fresh c-weed, daily?

On the internet, I find that there are many folks who post their opinions on the netpages as if their opinion is valid because they think it's the best way to go? Also, OP has True or False for a posting with two statements, (tank size + diet requirements) so True and False, and False & True selections for answers might help clarify the replies to this thread. (True, False, imo)

They are the smallest of some tangs and mine has been in a 400g and 660g respectively and is maybe 3.5". As for diet, it ignores the seaweed but will eat most anything else

Mine is right there with the rest of them going after the Nori clips. Same, she’s about 3.5”.

I’ve had mine for 2 years in a 90G. He’s now picking on the clowns and the wrasse. I give him hikari seaweed extreme pellets but he does eat just about everything else too.

I would not put a tomini in anything less than a 75.

A corner unit has even less length for swimming than a standard rectangular tank of the same displaced.

I have a Two Spot Tang in my 65 Gallon 36” x 22” It hasn’t noticeable increased in size since I got it on 12-16-2021. It doesn’t touch algae, except for kissing the back glass. Pig on any other food.

Again, probably alone but certainly Yes I would. If afterwards I thought it was suffering for swimming space I'd net him back to the LFS, or trade him using the local board. Healthy fish are easy to rehome to folks with a larger tank.

i have one in a 40B. previously got it with the intention of upgrading to a 75G, but now i’m not upgrading anymore and will need to rehome it when it grows bigger. so far it’s <3inches so i have a little longer.

if you plan on keeping it very long term, and plan on upgrading, get it. if not, don’t bother and maybe get more CUC and smaller algae eating fish like court jester goby

Id be ok with a tomini. While its not always advisable, I had a yellow, a pyramid butterfly and flame angel in a 45 cube with no issues

I think if the Tomini is the only Tang, it should do fine. Tominis tend to swim slowly and like to stay low in the rock work. Mine seems to be more shy than the others and doesn’t seem to need a lot of swimming room. It is a tang though and will show typical tang territorial aggression to other fish. In other words, it will want to be the tank boss. WWC has a Tomini in several of there small Zoa and softie tanks. They all seem happy and healthy.
