hello all,

I am setting up a 75 gallon reef tank. I am cycling dry rock in a spare tank that is blacked out. once the rock is ready and I place it in main system,(with dry sand) is it ok to use the same water that i used to cycle the rock with from the spare tank to fill up?

Interesting question. I’ve never done that always mixed up new. I know Ryan on brs investigated just a had a video on you tube where he stated water from their existing tank is helping to cycle tank. I would like to see the answers from others here

During you dry rock cycling you're likely to see high phosphates and will want to toss that water.
I'm assuming you are performing the recommended water changes during your cycle?
If your final cycle testing shows zero phos and low or no nitrates then it's fine to use that water.

Creating a strong bulwark: Did you consider floor support for your reef tank?
