I opted for not doing a Triton test as it might have only confirmed that I had a problem. I had already deduced that. ;)

Had it been a biological isssue, fungus, bacteria , ph etc, it would not have.

Yes. Just asked because there have been a number of Triton tests showing high Sn and people having RTN or STN issues. I currently have high Sn values in my tank but nothing is rusting inside so was curious to see how high would your value be given you did actually have a rusting object. Great to see you have found the cure [emoji4][emoji122]

Oh understood for sure. But with my now vast experience killing corals:oops:,
There are kinda signature death throws.
In my case after water changes helped, and over time between them it was very much like siting building up , or could have been alk drop. Alk was completely stable as was flow etc etc.

And naturally the last thing I added I assumed was the culprit.
Filter socks.

Naturally the problem came right as I captures the ultimate reef unicorn.
I had footnotes my tricolor Vilead to turn three colors. (Only took three years or so.)

How did the blade get into the system?
I live with an idiot. ;)
I have acrylic lids under the canopy and from time to time (always) set my tools on top. My guess is it it got pushed off the back and landed on a rock.
I moved some stuff yesterday and found this in the sand last night right before lights out.

This if the third or fourth time I've taken the tank apart looking for rusty pumps.

All the other stn events had been really slow. Yesterday morning the stylo had lost 50% overnight.
So I woke up and ran for the ocean (opens earlier than the lfs) and did a 20g wc.
This morning it's 99% gone. :(
