Hey all, I'm currently setting up my new frag system. For lighting I'd like to do either a few AI Prime 16HD's or a few Orphek OR3 bars. Which would you guys choose? And why?

Probably the Orphek bars for better coverage. Light coming from lots of directions vs light coming from only 3 directions

Thats what I was thinking, was more concerned with the lack of control with the orphek bars as they're just on/off.

2, 48x24 tanks (lowboys). If I was doing both i would still need 2 primes. I'm definitely leaning towards the orpheks.

Just get a couple blue ones for growth and blue viewing, and a white one to place in the middle for color development. Control is overrated

Hello.
I am thinking of buying myself an Orphek OR3 blue strip as an addition to Aquatic Life T5 and one Kessil A360W.
My lights are mounted 9" from the surface of the water. The dimensions of the tank are 26" x 26" x 26". Most SPSs are somewhere 12" below the water level.
I read on the forum that Orphek is not recommended to be installed above 16" from the water level.
Do you think this will be a problem if I hang it below?
Yours faithfully
Nick

You will be fine. I have mine 12-13 inches above the water. I have 2 OR3s and an atlantik. The blue OR3s are great.

yes, for 48" tank, at least 2 primes to ensure the acceptable homogeneous. for best, 3 pcs is suggested.

if OR3, for 24" width, at least 3 pcs to ensure the enough brightness (PAR). the deep(high) of the tank should be lower than 24". Also, there is no moon or smart sunrise/sunset cycle.

Have you got the blue OR3.

There is a Blue light with:
1, more wider and cover more area with more led which means higher homogeneous.
2, sunrise/sunset/moonlighing.
3, hangway or mountway.

for your 48" tank, 2 pcs is enough.

In fact, it is newest version for such "all blue" requirement

Would please may it possible some friends give some suggestion or advice about this light ?

I was talking with an Orphek rep not too long ago and he said that they were planning on rolling out controllability by the end of 2020 but I'm sure with Covid that has turned into early 2021 now. But he also said that you'd be able to control any bars including older ones.
