I think I know the answer to this, but looking for a second opinion.

I just received this Blasto this morning, and noticed a stringy poly looking thing on the side.

The coral came on a piece of rock, so I assume it is aiptasia. Was planning to remove, slice off, and cover with glue.

Curious what others think.

Yep.. . . . Looks like a single one. Keep it simple- Using a syringe, inject either lemon juice or better yet, Kalkwasser powder mixed with RO water and a little lemon juice into consistency of toothpaste and inject into the center core of the aptasia and it will melt away

Thanks. I don’t have a syringe or kalkwasser. If I remove the rock from the tank, can I cut it off with a razor and super glue over the spot?

Superglue will do it

Ugg, I hate them with a passion.
If you superglue it, you must make sure you cover it completely.
If it were my big blasto.. I would remove the whole section around it and toss it away. But that is me and I dealt with them for a while. The coral will grow back.
Good luck and definatly look for others on that piece.

Hi I tried super glue on the one aptasia that showed up in my tank it did not work so I purchased some aptasia x I followed the directions but I applied a bit more than the recommended application I have not seen it for over two weeks. As an aside I have seen local retailers that sell coral that clearly have aptasia growing on or near them I have seen some I wanted to buy but really I would not want to purchase aptasia !

Cut at Very bottom of base and do so out of the water if possible and flush are with tank water then return it to tank. Ive seen superglue applied to have them later return, Gel superglue may work better. Syringes- 25 cents at walmart pharmacy and show them this post so they realize you are using it for pest control and not meth . . LOL
