Hello, everyone and thanks for taking the time to look over my build. It's been a long road coming and like any adventure it's had its ups and downs. Hopefully, this thread will help anyone see where I've made mistakes, learned from those mistakes and found a hobby that will last my lifetime! There have been quite a few people help me along the way. this forum has been a great resource along with all the people involved with it. So here we go....
Like any other story, this one has to have a beginning and mine was with a 55 gallon freshwater tank I bought at Pet's Mart ten years ago After killing a few fish, I learned about cycling a tank and quickly got board with freshwater fish.

I then decided to convert it into a saltwater tank with no idea what i was doing. After a quick search on the internet and craigslist i was able to convert my aquarium into a saltwater oasis.

It doesn't look like much, but well i was able to grow these amazing anemones that were tiny and everywhere!! I later found out they were aptasia. Even though they were pest, I knew i was hooked.

After a year or so, I was actually starting to understand what a saltwater tank entailed and so I decided to build a stand and buy a reef ready tank to put the plumbing out of sight.

I kept this tank and moved it twice to my current house where I continued to hone my skills and manage to keep both coral and fish alive.

While I admit, I didn't take great pictures, I found my passion, these little animals living in a glass box in my living room! I started to develop a plan and the design for my next tank would be exactly how I wanted everything!

That is one good looking frag tank. Any top down shots?

Also- why sch80 (other than looks)? I’m pricing out a build and sch80 is almost double, which is pushing my plumbing costs into the 4 digits .

Cool build, thanks for sharing

Thanks for looking! Honestly, I just like the schedule 80 look. There will be some ***** coming soon. I never made it to the 4 digits, but I spent a lot online for fittings! I stopped keeping track to be honest.

My first decision was where to get the tank from. After considering Miracle aquariums, Glass cages, CTC aquariums and Reef Savy, I ended up with Planet Aquarium for the price and recommendations from friends who had done business with them. My local fish store was able to contact them and work out the details. There was also no shipping cost to do it this way.

Next up was the frag tank. I bought a tank from glass cages since they were local and couldn't be happier. I also had a friend that they built a similar tank to for his coral displays. Check them out at Parrot Aquatics.

Next was a sump. I had been looking for an MRC sump and finally I found one in Atlanta which is only 2.5 hours off. We made a quick trip to pick it up and then went over to the aquarium.

Next the real fun began. Demolition of a closet and expansion of my laundry room to build a fish room. I started by adding some support to the flooring under the crawl space.

Love the build and the fish room behind the tank. Makes the DT look very clean looking. Also like the stand alot it looks great. Glad to see Tennessean with a big build. How do you like that light? I really considered getting the 60" version

Thank you. I have plenty more pictures to add on. I am working on uploading pics as we speak. As for the lights, I couldn't be happier they great and look sleek. It made adding t5's to the radions a breeze

I went to glasscages once to pick up some baffles- kind of a neat place, let me walk round to see a bunch of tanks being made.

I drilled the back of a 125 2 days before my wife’s company relocated us to ATL. That tank is now my basement sump for an in wall 180. I start framing the fishroom next week- been working on drilling and painting my filtration tanks.

That is definitely a one of kind facility. They took me on a tour and I was blown away by how many aquariums they had up and running with the fish they were breeding. Starting a big build in the basement sounds awesome new house, new tank. You can’t go wrong.
