Hi there,

I have this bright red algae on my magnetic frag rock . It,s the only spot it grows on but has grown into one of my frag plugs. I've scrubbed it off but it's coming back. Can someone please help me I.d. this algae and if it's anything to be concerned about.

Thanks in advanced!!!

Can you put up an image with less blue light, more white and less saturation please. :)

Umm no not really. I will look around because I have an idea, but it does not quite fit.

How fast does it grow? How long has it been growing in the tank?

:)

It's not the fastest growing but not slow at all seems like it can be easily controlled if managed but I have already scraped this algae off once when it started getting bushy and now it's spreading to the frag plugs I have on there . It's a really bright red kinda glows!

I wonder if the glowing is due to your blue light. I had a blue light on my DT and when I would switch it to white one particular red macro algae would have a fuller richer color and new growth was neon orange for a day. Granted my macro doesn't look like your algae but maybe it will change appearance if you leave the white light on for a day or two.

Yes! I've been trying track it down what it is for a while now. I have other red macros that do it too. This one seems to get clear fuzzy fibers at the ends. Not sure what that is about. It doesn't look like the algae in your first post through. Or is it?
