I dosed 3 spoons of chemiclean into my 54g tank 2 days ago.

After

Is it working and should I give it a bit longer before I start pulling out the chemiclean and water change the system

(The thick patches of white in the before pic were from my goby and snails etc ) usually it’s packed of thick red

Seems you might have gone a little light on treatment. Should be one scoop for every 10 gallons. But yes I would do the 48 hour water change, and restart skimmer, UV and carbon if you run them.

I had to treat a tank twice before cyano fully went away. A lot depends on the age of the tank and the nutrient levels.

Did you clean out what you could before hand?

I did the 3 spoons as I’m sure it’s 45g after everything in the tank.

If I have to treat again I would only do 4 spoons.

How soon could I redose the treatment ? Do I do the 20% water change when I get home and run carbon and skimmer and when everything is back to normal I can redose?

Or should I give it another 24h to see if it clears more. I saw a YouTube wait 72h and he said he still had patches on 48h and waited another day and it was gone

I cannot advise on leaving longer as I’m one who follows the directions. I have no idea if there are any negatives to waiting longer or benefits. After my first treatment my tank looked clean. It took a week or two for it to return. Can’t really tell from the after picture wether you still have cyano or if it is brown diatoms.

I am doing a water change im a couple hours. 15g , next week I’m moving the tank to my new home so I’ll wash out the sand and scrub the rocks. Hopefully that’ll help.

It was not diatoms, cyano came back but not as bad. If I need to I will redose
