The first picture is when I got the frag in March 2017 and the second picture is from today , it amazes me how fast some of these corals actually grow.

Actually the frag looked like this when I got it and cut the dead parts off making two tiny frags, I honestly thought it would never bounce back.

It grows really well. I wish mine grew in a better form. The flow in my 14g peninsula seems to make it grow all weirdlike lol

The only thing I did special was put the frag high up in the tank so it received lots of light and flow. I believe at the time I started that frag In the tank my nutrient level was a bit high on phosphate but I’ve kept my dkh / alkalinity around 11 so I believe that’s why I got away with it. I’ve noticed this birdsnest grows super fast now that it’s bigger and eventually I’m gonna have to cut branches off cause if not it’ll start taking up too much room. The crazy part about this one is how it survived my worst tank crash I’ve had yet.

Most of the growth happened with my T5 bulbs (ATI Blue plus and a actinic) I did switch to A Reefbreeders photon V2 LED fixture recently which has not slowed down growth at all and love that I don’t have to switch bulbs every 6-8 months. My skimmer is a reef octopus hang on back style and yes I dose , I used to dose soda ash for alkalinity, bulk reef supply dry calcium jug for calcium plus the bulk reef supply magnesium bag for magnesium. I’m now using kalkwasser for alkalinity and calcium. I do test my water a lot , here’s some of my test kits in the picture below. I’ve read though that birdsnest corals are super easy to grow so if you have a cycled tank I would recommend getting one if you like the way it looks.

I love seeing this! My birds nest has grown at a huge rate too. It withered awayto almost nothing when I first got it and now has grown huge in about 8 months. Here is Jan 25 2018 compared to yesterday 8/7/2018. Nevermind the bubble algae, that’s another story.

It’s a Pocillopora, where as the OP has a Seriatopora. Both commonly known as birdsnest. Sure hope not to offend OP by hijacking thread. :)
