What do you all think? Are these Amphidinium? Something else? They seem to be irritating my zoas, maybe killing my snails. They don't form thick carpets, more of a light dusting. Seem to keep mostly to the sand.

I am stumped. It is not obvious what these are and also whether the different shapes are the same organism viewed along two different body axis. What do you all think? Are these Amphidinium? I think the different shapes are due to different orientations. They all are sort of coffee bean shaped. I *think* it is on the glass, rocks, and sand. I'm thinking about getting a UV as well as dosing silica and raising nutrients.I am stumped. What did you end up doing ? Im dealing with this nowMack's dino group came through for me. I have Prymnesium parvum, which appears to be way worse than dinos. It not only looks like the images i've found online, but it also has similar impacts. It grows in areas without light, seems to be toxic to inverts, and congregates at the surface of the water, though it grows all over. Since this appears to be in the water column, I've ordered a UV. Hopefully I can get this taken care of and get algaes to outcompete this nasty stuff. There isn't much out there on this.
I did some reading on this stuff and it is quite nasty. I found that UV is quite effective, so I bought a UV sand sweeper as well as a 9w green killing machine UV. I am still not sure if it is in the water column AND in the sand/glass, or if it is mostly on the sand. I see a lot of it on the sand, but it does show up in other places. Mine likes light, but not too much. Blackouts won't work as it is photosynthetic AND will eat bacteria/other stuff when there is less light. Dosing bacteria doesn't help. Filter floss in my sump seems to catch a lot, so I am thinking this algae is on all surfaces and in the water column. What did you end up doing ? Im dealing with this now
