Anemone help

Need help to ID if this Sea bae is a goner? I brought it home on Friday (07/30/21). Since the first day the anemone keeps getting flipped upside down. It ate a whole piece of krill on Saturday night and I thought it liked a spot but it eventually moved and fell off the rock only to land upside down. I have read on here to put it on the sand bed and dig a hole for the anemone to hold onto. I realized my powerhead was probably keeping it from settling down. This morning is day 3 of waking up to it being upside down. From the looks of it I don't think its dead it maybe "pooping" the krill, learned my lesson and will be cutting the krill in half now. but I just wanted peace of mind that the nem is ok and just taking time to acclimate.

I think Nitrates are to high but its only a 1.5 month old tank

Any and all help is much appreciated.
P.s. Pictures are after my wife pick it up from being upside down in the sand and put it up on our highest rock to the light. Should I place it back on the sand in a pvc tube? that is my last hope to keep it happy and not moving around the tank. also turned off my reef wave 25 and will leave it off for the next 24hrs to see if that helps

Anemone in a new tank is a steep up hill battle. Mag should be almost double that. Guessing faulty test. Do a series of 30% water changes and get nitrates below 20. Like one every 3 days or so. Do not attempt to move the anemone.

Tank this new and a Nem not going to be impossible..... but a tough task. Water params need to be stable. Everything @Jekyl said....

Hard to tell with the blue light but it appears bleached also. Going to be a real struggle for this one in a new tank. Don't force feed and keep your hands off of it. If it starts deteriorating then it will need to be removed. Otherwise just allow it to figure out where it wants to be. I'd recommend waiting another 5 months before trying another. When you do, buy it from a local reefer instead of that LFS. Will be much healthier.

Not attaching is a sign of not being happy. It has the ability to right itself if need be though. Big thing is to not allow it to get sucked up by a powerhead and making anemone soup. Did you watch at the LFS when they removed it from the tank? Was it attached? Did they force it out of the tank?

It was sitting on the sand in their tank I tested their water before acclimating and the biggest difference was salinity theirs at 1.027 mine at 1.024, and nitrates theirs 20 mine 60. I don't think they tore the foot I have looked.

Nems don't like high nitrates. Re-test and get that down. Maybe even take it back to the LFS to hold for you or find a foster until you get nitrates under control.

The tips are still blue so I haven't been concerned with bleaching but I till keep a close eye on it

Good to hear! Get yourself a new magnesium test or have LFS verify your numbers. Get some water changes going to get the nitrates down. I keep my tank between 10 and 15 and the nems seem to love it.

Thanks for all the info, it will be a grind to try to keep this alive but I’m ready for the challenge

This is my sweet spot lately on nitrates too. They are steady there, were at zero a few years back, then 5, and now last 3 or 4 months settled in there. Good for my Nem and my corals. It will be tricky on a new setup but with good fairly intense watch can be done....
And +1 on LFS verifying numbers.

@Jekyl has given you some good advice and @vetteguy53081 is spot on with the water. If there is no visible damage there are two probable conditions in my book. Either an infection or stress. Honestly I’m leaning on stressed as it is bleached and it’s mouth is open a bit but it is staying attached, it is open, and it is extended. As you’ve already been told, don’t try to feed it for a few days. I would probably give it a week. If you turned your lighting down slowly bring it up a little every couple of days. Once that mouth tightens up, feed it a little bit of mysis and squid from a pipette. Do that every few days or so and I bet before you know it it’s color will be back.

Update, it did eventually fall/jump off the top rock to the front of the tank I turned the power head back on but on 20% power. It has stayed put for a full 24hrs now so we will see what happens.

I noticed this morning that I had a lot of algae last night but this morning it was all mostly gone. I only have 4 turbo snails and I don't think my sand sifter was working the night shift. Any and all help/advice is much appreciated.

Nitrates headed in the right direction. Not sure I would dose vodka at this point. As @Jekyl mentioned, continue with the 30% water changes every few days. Check nitrates NOW, and give us all a number. Nem seems a bit happier you say, so things are slowly getting there. Nothing happens fast in this hobby...

During the water changes get your salinity up to 1.026. Once you get nitrate below 20 you can start with NoPox dosing. However it takes a while to kick in. In my experience it's better at maintaining rather than reduction. Once you get nitrate between 10 and 15 just focus on stability.

I was told to keep my salinity at 1.024 to keep ich away but I am not really trusting the advice I was given and I really believe the info you all are giving me here a lot more. 1.025 will be the goal with todays change of about 15 gal in a 43 gal system. Then 1.026 will be the goal after next water change. .001 change in 3days I think would be ok
