For butterflies, I had small experience with these in addition to Semilarvatus mentioned above

Yellow Longnose Butterflyfish (Forcipiger flavissimus)
Copperband Butterflyfish (Chelmon rostratus)

These two were Reef safe fish and extra advantage they were eating aiptasia

On the other hand the following raccoons were not safe at all and eats everything

Raccoon Butterflyfish (Chaetodon lunula)
Red Sea Raccoon Butterflyfish (Chaetodon fasciatus) which you can fish it yourself in Saudi Arabia easily

I like your thread. May I ask if the Double Saddle and Sunset Butterfly will eat corals?

Here's my Doublesaddle butterfly in a Fowlr. The Sunset is on my wishlist

As the majority of Chaetodon butterflies , Double Saddle and Sunset Butterflies are not reef safe.

Is it true that dwarf angels are more prone to develop a taste for coral?

Yes I believe so, some of the dwarf angels I have like Rusty and Venusta Angels pick on many corals including sps. on the other Hand my Emperor don't touch sps and much gentler on LPS.

sooo as time has passed I am once again thinking about a BF dominate tank. with a few dwarf angels

tank would be a red sea reefer 750XXL 200 gal system.
I would like to add lots of gorgonians. getting mixed info on if this is possible or not.
I doubt it, as i want to do it, go figure. any one out there is reef land keep BF and gorgs together or is that asking for trouble?

Bfs and corals just don't go well together, except for long noses(forcipiger) and Copperbands and(chelmon), but still not 100%
You can also go for the deepsea bfs(prognatodes), but I be read somewhere they don't like intense lighting and deeper pocket required;)
