Hello everyone,

Its time to start this thread . A full year back I planned to start this tank but a lot of things happened since then but now I think is a good time to start this build again. This build faced many roadblocks and bumps during last one year but now we can start the journey. I hope everyone will enjoy the journey forward.

Current plan for this system:

Tank dimension:
54"x30"x26" peninsula style eurobrace acrylic tank (local tank manufacturer)

Sump: Fijicube 36 advanced sump

Lighting: Hybrid

Return pumps: Octo Varios 6 and 8

Skimmer: Deltec 1500i

UV: lifeguard 55 w amalgam high output

Wavemakers: X350F and some more controlled by Hydros wave controller

Substrate: This will be again a barebottom tank like my earlier ones.

This will be an acropora dominated tank. I decided to do something different for this tank. Although I like the new trend of tenuis collection but I personally prefer deepwater and smooth skins. So, I decided this tank will majorly have smoothies and deepwater acros. I will also have favias and some chalices but that's all.

For the stand I planned it to be a 2x4 structure wrapped with plywood. I am planning it to be modern and simple looking but eye-catching. So, I decided to do a white color with walnut highlights. I am going with marine grade plywood to avoid any future issues.

A trip to home depot and some time with the circular saw. We are rolling.

The stand is coming along but I want to share the skimmer. I bought this from Adam at battle coral @Battlecorals couple of years back when I started planning this reef. Its a deltec 1500i. Its a beast by its size and I hope it will perform like one. Adam guided me really well with this one. It also come with a manual neck cleaner.

I am also cycling a good amount of natural rock since last 2 years which I bought from a lesser known online shop. I will build my reef scape with these.

For this build I decided on a local builder. He quoted me a reasonable price and very nice to understand and fulfill all my demands. He actually helped me with quite a few decision. He always kept me updated with throughout the build process.

Here are some eye candy

Boy, that tank has some thick sides. The tank is really going to look nice wet.

Old school.

I'm replacing a Bubble King (which I'm failing miserably at unloading) with a Deltec 400i. Deltec skimmers still look promising today.

I like their build quality and non cone shaped reaction chamber. Adam suggested me to get the non-DC version as he thinks they are one time set up and forget thing. He runs one in his setup and highly recommend it. The build in neck cleaner is a good feature too. I also got a Avast skimmate locker so together this should be golden.

I don't know why manufacturers haven't been integrating manual wipers all along. It's a fantastic feature, as is the overflow prevention feature.

Lol... I did not wanted a cross brace so the whole tank is 3/4 inch acrylic. I thought it will be light and call one of my buddy to bring it inside. After 30 minutes 2 of us moved it just inside the house ;Blackeye . It will take more manpower to bring it upstairs. So, now waiting for few other friends to come over and help.

My guess is people want you to pay more money for additional things. Those are really nice features.
