I think the 500x is geared towards deeper tanks, but it can also work in shallow tanks given the right mounting height. Yeah, I never understood the "kessil can't grow sps" gripe. Completely baseless if you ask me. I think it mostly comes from reefers who don't understand how to implement lighting (led's) in a reef tank.

@Kessil - will the new A500X fit the Aquatic life T5 hybrid mounting bracket that is currently available?

I don't believe so. The bracket there has a max diamater of 4.3" - the A500X unit has a diamater of 5.2".

Either of those will be fantastic lighting solutions for your tank.
Tank will eventually be sps dominant, my concerns being less spread and more shading if I go with two 500s. However I don’t want to have to crank four 360s full intensity to hit decent par.

Wow. I just bought an AP9X, so I'm excited to get it mounted over the tank once delivered. Might consider the 500X later down the road for my other tank, but we'll see based on affordability.

Awesome Kessil!! Take that you know who with your overpriced loud fans!! Can't wait to grab 2 for my box of water! I have 4 360x already. Bring on the power!! Team Kessil!!
The A360X fan isn't dead silent either though. I can hear mine at 10 feet distance. People who say they can't hear it are either deaf or the room is noisy.
