Thanks. Mainly utilitarian fish and mix LPS, Softies and SPS. But it will be a while. Hoping to add a couple of Clownfish next weekend after a large water change.

URRRG!!!!!

So I have been waiting on my Nitrites to come down. Its been 30 days since I started my cycle so was hoping that by now I would be done. Look at this!

Same testing procedure, same time, same company (Salifert) different batch. Heading to the LFT to see which one is correct.

Saturday I did a 80% water change to get ready for the new clownfishs. Today we added our first inhabitants. Still no lights, till Dec. From now one will be adding one utilitarian fish every two weeks. Just trying to follow the 5-mininute guide from BRS.

Question, do I need a tank cover?
Yes. You can make a screen top for that tank pretty easy. You can get a kit from one of the online stores.

All fish can jump to their death from the tank. It’s really sad when you find them on the floor dead. I have made this mistake and always keep my top on now.

I really like your setup @plc001

The scape looks really nice, lots of room for corals to grow. Stand turned out great. And, I’m especially jealous of the way you make your water;)

Thanks. Yes getting water it’s the best! We get out 2 time s a week so it’s very convenient! The hard part was getting 40 gallons but from now own I will only need a max of 8 gallons a week.

So I was getting a film on top of my water since I do not have a sump or a skimmer so decided to add a surface intake for the HOB and added a Tunze Nanostream. Much better now:

Yesterday I received a used AI Prime HD. Decided to mounted temporally but I may just keep the stand. I have two AI prime 16 HD in the mail but also with no mount. So if I do not like my DYI stand, I will upgrade to the AI stand.

Tank is doing great, go my lights installed but only running at 2 watts (5% blues, uv, violet and white). Mainly to see the fish. The plan is by Dec 24th (4 month mark) to have the lights at full and then start adding corals. Yesterday we picked up a small scopas tang (1.5" including tail). Too small for my seaweed extreme pellets but he had no problem eating nori.

No name yet but here she/he is:

Lights up and hooked up on my DYI tank mount. I was going to get rigid stand, but since this tank its in my office, I'm keeping it like this. The back wall its a full size wall mirror so what you see to the right its just a reflection. Just 3 lights;-)
