Have Apex currently running and need additional power for several things and want to be able to control them. Is another EB832 worth additional money over EB8. What are your thoughts

To me it depends on what you are going to put on them, when I added 2 Orphek bars I didn’t go for an 832 because I wasn’t concerned with the individual power. If adding pumps I could see benefit in the 832. If money isn’t a concern the 832 would be the way to go because it gives a lot of additional features.

Thanks for the reply leepink23.. I mean we are only talking additional $100 for 832 and some additional features. $100 in the hobby is just a drop in the bucket :)

I'd agree. Plus you never know what future toy you're going to have plugged in the energy bar that needs monitoring or needs programing based on the wattage/amperage is drawing or not drawing.

I like your thinking.. Buy once now twice :)

Not a fan of the EB8; most of the outlets are on TRIAC electronic switches rather than mechanical relays.
I do like the EB4, though; all mechanical relays and 1 is rated for 12A (more than any single outlet on the EB832).

I have a mixture of EB832 (two), EB8 (three) and EB4 (two). If I were to need additional outlets, I’d probably just buy another 832 at this point. I have not, and probably will not, replace 8s with 832s, but I do think the latter are worth the premium based on power monitoring and the extra utility outlets.

I have 2 b832's and 4 eb8's. 832 is good with all the extra connections, port lights, and individual voltage monitoring. eb8 has more usb ports. Guess it depends on what they will be running. I went with eb8's on most of my non essential items that just need simple on off commands when I need them and one as a hub with the extra usb ports.

Either one you get will work.

I'd lean to the 832 also if the extra $100 isn't a issue.

I did have issues with a small hob ref pump that would not operate correctly on my 832. I had to use a splitter and hook it with another pump to get it to work right. Wouldn't turn off plugged in by itself. Didn't matter which outlet I used. This was the only item I've found so far that gave me a issue. Like I had said, very small pump, like a mini micro. I never tried it on the eb8 because those are downstairs and in another room.
