Hello all,

I am into week 9 of new tank 90g / 150g total volume
First,
Params:
Temp: 77.9-88.6 degree swing
PH: 7.8
Salinity: 35.5 Apex / 1.026 Refractometer
NO3 : 2
PO4 : .03
Alkalinity: 8.3 dkH
Ca : 435
Mg : 1400

Stock:
15000 pods,etc.
5 - Nerrites
5 - Turbos
10 - Nassarius
20 - Cerith
1 - Strawberry Conch
1 - Frogspawn
1 - Hammer

I am reverse cycling fuge lights 12 hours from DT. I just got through the worst of Diatom phase and tank is clearing up nicely with CUC and skimmer. WOW is skimmate smelly! I will never ever forget that smell...

I am feeding algae pucks, Mysis pellets, scraped frozen red snapper from vacation for Nassarius, Coral Frenzy, and Marine snow to keep CUC alive.

I am getting GHA in the refugium, my question is:

Do I let it ride or dose a little of iron for good measure just to be proactive?
I don't want it to choke out the macro-algae (Chaeto, various red algae) I am growing.

I am very patient so this is not me wanting to do something as much as it is to learn something.
I read a post that discussed this.

This is what I used:

http://www.cvs.com/drug/fergon/oral-tablet/27mg

Take 1 tablet and dissolve in 100 mL RO/DI (overnight soak). Let the solids settle out and use the liquid. Then I dose about 1-5 mL to my 200 gallons (dose is not critical) occasionally.

Attached is the tank as of yesterday with whites turned up as well as sump refugium.

Thanks

Chris

Pull it and take it out until the point your chaeto outcompete your hair algae for nutrients, I'm fighting the same fight here. My chaeto is growing like crazy. But I still have hair algae that is slowly dwindling down.

Will do. Without having a real bio-load, I definitely want the macro-algae to stand a chance as my bio-load increases.

Thanks crabs.
