IMO the power cord is a little short. An additional 3-6 feet would be ideal for most. Having the cord this short will require a little creativity and likely some form of an extension.

I have 4 of these over my 120, with a 5th on the way for more spectrum. I'm running 2 blue plus, 1 reef sky, 1 UV and adding the Reef Day Plus for the extra white and enhanced spectum. I love these lights.

Don't they supposedly supply extentions with them already ?

I found that the 36" and 48" models have the same cable length setup (see below), but the 60" is much better with about 11 feet from the light unit to the dim driver. With that said, here’s why I think the OR4 iCon I hung earlier (36" OR iCon) could use an extra extension because I will have to decide if I like place dim driver above the light or have it dangle from the air down the tank (light is slightly 6 feet above the floor).

The total cable length from the light unit to the 3-prong plug is about 10 feet, split into three sections:
  • about 5 feet from the light unit to the dim driver (smart ballast)
  • about 1 foot for the dim driver itself (heavy and fairly long)
  • about 4 feet from the dim driver to the 3-prong plug
This cable length setup only gives about 5 feet of usable cable for managing the cord from the top of the tank to the ground, making it hard to place the dim driver on the floor or in a stand - unless the light hangs low and the tank is short. Hanging the dim driver over or behind the tank isn’t ideal for me. It may sound picky, but without a solid shelf, there could be a risk due to its weight and size (dim driver) and aesthetically not eye pleasing imo.

Having shared that, just be aware is all I am trying to say. The light seems great.

Okay,it sounds like people who have taller tanks and hang lights higher will have an issue then. I don't think I will as my current light to my power bar is roughly 4ft,so I should be good.

I just got my OR30's and was very disappointed to see how short the power cords are. Reached out to Tommy and they do have extensions cords but with shipping made them very expensive. Wish they had a US distributor!

I ended up Ordering a OSix instead for $280. It will give me more options later. I have 2 Natura's for my 120 and will add the Sky blue and a blue plus OR4's. I have had Icons in the past and ran the same setup and looked best to me.

Which versions did you go with on the OR30's ? My Blue Plus just shipped yesterday.

Nice !! Color wise it looks good ? I do have a few questions. Care to share any pics, also how is the iCon app,and finally did it come with the little swivel mounting brackets ? I asked Orphek and never got a direct answer.

Yes they do come with swivels.

As far as the APP, I'm not really a fan but its workable

I don't have my tank setup yet, but I paired the OR4 blue plus and sky blue with 2 Naturas.

For my previous setup, I had 2 icons with a OR3 sky blue and a blue plus. I really liked the balance it gave. the Icon can put out a ton of par on its own and adding the OR30's gave the extra blue to balance it all out. I could run the Icons and the OR3's around 47% and even that gave par numbers in the 400's at the top of my rock about 200 at the bottom. they are PAR monsters!

why did you get one Blue Plus and one sky blue? What is the major difference between the 2?

My Osix got delivered today. I was going to order extension cords for my new OR4's but by the time i paid shipping and price of the extension cords it was well over $100. I went with the Osix so later I can add more strips if necessary and the Osix can control both strips as 1 so it would be a bit easier to use in the app.

I did discover that the O4 power bricks have the wifi built into them and will run OR3's giving them Wifi control.
I am offering them to this group for $100 each. PM me if interested
