If I were you, I would only test for ammonia,nitrite, and nitrate till my cycle was complete. You are basically wasting your test kit for everything else when it's unnecessary at this stage of your tank.

Yes my tank is currently cycling that's why I'm testing now to gauge the process of it. Otherwise I'll be using the test kit for the quarantine system

Cycle day 11.
Checked ammonia and levels did drop a little but still sitting around 1ppm. I started my cycle with my regular lighting schedule but since reading on the forums have decided to leave lights off. It's so cool and rewarding seeing the little changes from day to day. My fiancee was caught staring into the tank in amazement of the life she's starting to see

Thanks. I've been doing research into skimmerless systems and have been toying with the idea of changing the skimmer compartment into a fuge.

Coral QT was going to be the rough one. The wife will not allow another QT so I will only have one. I didn't want to share it because of the copper meds and what not. I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to do

Cycle day 14:
Ammonia fell below .25 so I dosed it back up to 1.5 ppm. Not much else to report. I've been running with lights off so I'm limiting alage growth for now. I'm thinking monday I'm going to take a trip to a reputable LFS to get a small piece of live rock with some coraline on it to seed the tank.

Sounds like it's progressing nicely. I keep thinking about doing the same with live rock but fear a crazy hitchhiker, since I have been so careful up to this point I don't want to ruin it.

What I plan on doing is leaving the small rock in a bucket of tank water for a few hours to see what If any might come off it

Cycle day 17: after a crazy weekend (the wife's bridal shower) I got around to testing the tank today. I'm noticing the rocks are turning a darker color and ammonia tested below .50. I will be dosing some bottled bac for the next few days without the skimmer running. Hopefully next week I can dose the tank up to 1.5 and see a quicker transition down to nothing.

Cycke day 20: very noticeable alage growth. I'm thinking diatoms ? I will be at work for the next 24 hours so I will be testing water probably on sat. I will most likely start up my chaeto reactor next week as well as place a order for some pods at alage barn
