Anyone know what could have killed one of my Anthias? It had some white dots on his body when I got him from divers den two days ago. Today I found him lying on the bottom dead. I sssumed the white dots were flukes and treated with PraziPro. The dots didn’t look like ich to me but I’m no pro. Just curious if anyone can tell based on his dead body sores that way I can give the remaining two their best chance at surviving.

That unfortunately looks like uronema marinum that took your fish (the white spots were something else). Was this in QT or in your display?

I think the red sores on his dead body might have been where the white dots were but I can’t be positive

Well, in any case, would recommend going forth with metronidazole, both dosed directly to the tank and mixed with food, to try to eliminate uronema.

Only PraziPro at the moment. I assumed flukes at first just didn’t look like ich. I will also be starting cupramine regardless of symptoms in a couple days.

Ok I’ll look into that. No experience with Uronema. What makes you think that might be the case?

Would make metro a priority based on likelihood of uronema, which anthias are quite susceptible to.

Thanks for the help. After reading about Uronema it seems like some nasty stuff. If it is indeed that I’m not sure I wanna put the other two in my display at all. That stuff doesn’t seem like something I wanna take the chance of putting in my display.

Well unfortunately I couldn’t find any meds at the one local LFS I was able to stop by yesterday and due to plans with the family I wasn’t able to put much more effort in than that and unfortunately I woke up this morning to the remaining two dead as well.

Yeah it sucks. First time ordering online too, so probably won’t be doing that again.
