i'm very excited to have received these two specimens today. i'm not sure how many are still alive here in the u.s. and i was just told there may be no more coming in, as well. we'll see how they do. they are currently housed in a biocube 32g with two clownfish, one starry blenny, one cleaner shrimp and several e.quadricolor. i'll try and update their progress. the main things i'm interested in:

  • reproduction (will they spawn?)
  • energy - do they contain zooxanthellae? if so, how abundant? will i need to spot feed?
  • do they share the same characteristics as other anthopleura species?
  • will they host fish or inverts?

if you own or have owned this species, please feel free to add your input.

here’s a different cold water species i was able to convert to tropical water. this lived in one of my reef tanks for several years. i was never able to identify it 100%.

Congratuations on these beautiful specimens!
Try keeping them a little cooler, I think they cant handle the warmer temps.

Keep us updated!

Any updates on these guys? A year later and there's still not a ton of info anywhere. How are you caring for them?

I'm also curious how these did? I remember arguing quite a bit about these cold water nems after the Advanced Aquarist article, looking forward to an update.
