Any DIY Bubble trap options for Reef Essence or similar skimmers?

I generally like the Reef Essence 130 skimmer but it still puts out too many microbubbles.

The riser pipe does come off (Red arrows).

For those not familiar with the essence the effluent is funcky, the little slots on the riser (blue circle).

My bubble trap in my sump just isn't catching enough bubbles, the skimmer is dialed in, and the skimmer cannot be moved to another chamber.

I don't want to wrap filter floss/sponge/whatever around the slits.

resurrecting an old thread but, finally got mine setup and microbubble in excess, making the main tank cloudy--------- How did you fix yours
