Found this on one the rocks.. about 4mm in size. While it looks alive.. it did not move at all.

Some type of flatworm?
Just an update... noticed a similar floating piece today (next to my purple anemone), and I realised that it is one of its tentacles (which was barely hanging from its body yesterday). So case closed.

But this finding leads to my next question... is it normal for anemones (mine is a long tentacle purple anemone - palm sized) to lose/drop tentacles like this? Or is it something wrong with it? Should I be doing something about it?

You might want to post this one in the Reef Aquarium Discussion forum.
