I think you guys are gonna really like the tanks!

When your tanks get in, wrap some teflon plumbers tape around the internal pipes of the EXT. During my leak test, I learned that the internal pipes are slightly too small for my bulkheads and had a slow leak (see below)

I ran a simulated power outage test with the small leak and boy was it a close call. The water level in the sump got real close to the top.

After I wrapped some teflon tape around the adapter/pipes, the leak stopped completely.

Got things transfered over today as well!

I'll start a build thread after I clean the room up, lol.

A power outage is my biggest fear and I really need to do some research as I've been out of the game for 15 years and back then I remember wet/dry filters backing up/reverse siphoning when an outage would occur. So what measures have you taken in case of a power outage or am I an idiot and missed your point in your test? Also, I assume you guys have purchased your skimmers already, but I ran into this one last night and couldn't help but snag it up (Reef Octopus 130 Essence) on Saltwater.com.

Just pulled the trigger myself. Got the 108 Ext. I was upgrading from a 3 foot 65 gallon and like what a 4 foot offers. I could get a 5 foot but I know from experience odd feet sizes are not the most bang for your buck when it comes to equipment.

I think 4 foot is the perfect size. I see people selling their really small or really large aquariums (over 4 feet). The quick fluctuations of the really small aquariums frustrate people and the maintenance of the really large ones do the same

No issues with the sump getting close to overflowing during power outage simulations since i put teflon tape around those two pipes!

The tank is fully set up and livestock transfered in!

can you share some pic of the ext overflow plz :D
Is there any room on the EXT overflow models for central mount light? (I see you did the hanging light) I emailed Fiji and they said a couple of days ago they'd get back to me w/ measurement specs. Also, how long before you received notice tank was shipped as you seem to have received your tank rather quickly? Thanks again!

It wasn't the threaded pipes that were leaking, sorry for the confusion. These are the pipes that I needed to stick teflon around until it created a seal.

My powerhead pushes from the back left corner and is pointed towards the front right corner. That picture must have been taken when it was pushing 4,000 GPH towards that corner.

A middle mounted light might be a close fit. If you send me the dimensions required, I can do some measuring for you. My tank took approximately a little over two weeks to arrive. Shipped via Freight!

I wish I could find the dimensions of the mount. It appears fitting the mount/bracket all the way down on glass is probably impossible from the photos I can see on fijicube.com, but with the 3 plastics screws even if bracket doesn’t have room to fit snug on back/middle of glass it should hold. Regardless, here are some links to mount and light. No, I did not pay $800-$900 for light btw . I appreciate you giving your tank a quick glance and opinion if it will work and I won’t hold it against you of course if it doesn’t work I can mount light by ceiling with more negotiations with the wife to put holes in ceiling. Thank you!

I can’t view videos on reef2reef for some reason unfortunately but I’m sure it looks great from what I have seen in other photos! I did end up getting measurements from Fiji and It’s going to be close so may buy one of the brackets and try it out once tanks comes in a couple of weeks.

You'll have to let us know what you think once the tank comes in. Just as a heads up, the tank is pretty darned heavy. I was able to get it moved with the help of a friend and suction cups.

Well had my cube delivered today and IF I properly put together my EXT overflow it appears the center mount light works. I’ll eventually make a build thread, but might be a month or so. Hope you all are having a good Holiday break as well.

Sweet! What do you think of the setup? I'm still enjoying mine a ton.

As a quick DIY trick, I stuck 2 pieces of coarse foam behind the two overflow to silence any splashing and it works like a charm!

So far so good thanks for all your help along the way. I actually have some leftover water proof foam from overflow packaging that would work well, but just can't picture where you put yours?

Thank you and it's the 81EXT Gallon. My wife and I were really set on not overwhelming our living room so wanted to stay within 36 inches in length and frankly a 4 ft length tank would be just a bit too much $$ to fill with corals etc. Now need to get my water station set up as I have a new 7 stage BRS RODI that's been sitting in boxes since their Black Friday sale.

I know this is an old thread but any updates on how things have gone for you guys with Fiji tanks I’m seriously considering buying a compete set up from them. I too like the 3ft tank and the sump setup is nice. The overflow conserns me with it being so small but otherwise looks like a quality tank.
