I have never had compatibility issues with triggers and Butterflies.. Yet. Now, this being said, I have used triggers that are generally community triggers. Pink tail, Blue Jaw, Crosshatch, Niger to name a few. Obviously if you have a trigger that requires its own tank, Queen, Titan, Undulate, or even clown to name a handful, than their would be compatibility issues. As long as the butterfly is eating before introduced to the tank, he should be able to compete okay at feeding time.

I do love copperbands. I just worry about being able to get it to eat. What kind of live food do you start them out with?

Blackworms, White Worms, Clams. Clams can be served either on the 1/2 shell or sliced.

Getting a copperband in before any of the larger bodied fish will help it settle. Once they get settled they can be quite hardy, but getting them settled is easier said than done.

Blue throat triggers are ***** cats. I have never had an issue withh aggression with them outside of fighting with conspecifics.

As long as the powder blue is last, I would consider a convict or mimic.

I think i may just stick with a kole as the third tang (added first)
And possibly consider adding a copperband before any of the larger fish if im feeling adventurous enough to try one.

Should work pretty well. The yellow and purple may fight a bit, but they both can be pricks, so they will work it out. I have a Yellow, Purple, and sailfin. They do some fighting, but it's more just pushing each other around rather than nipping

Yeah, my last tank was a 180g and I had a YT, PT, Sailfin and a Regal and they all got along with the occasional "YOU TOUCH ME?" attitude but no slashing of tails! LOL!

BTW, beautiful Purple in your avatar! If I could only have one, it would be a Purple Tang. :)

I have a yellow and a convict in a 90, and they get along great. Introduced at the same time and they're about the same size. If you have the option, add the convict first as they're a little more delicate at first. I'd add the pbt last, but you never know how they're going to react with other tangs..

I've got a chocolate tang, 2 yellows, a purple, a yellow eye kole, (Paracanthurus hepatus) dory, and a unicorn that all play better together than my anthias

I've had success with a yellow tang, sailfin, juvenile orange shoulder and a tomini bristletooth tang in one tank. Mine are quite small though the biggest being the orange shoulder at a whooping 2.5" lol. Only aggression is the occasional staring contest and headbutt during feeding time. Other than that they play nice even all share the same cave in the tank at night.
