I have the 23” LLS.
I have tried to calibrate this thing every which way.
I have done auto calibration and it will not settle and fails at first attempt.
I have done manual calibration and the values are ridiculously far off (i.e. showing 67” and bouncing around 2”-70”) and never settling and failing.
I have removed/deleted the FMM and reinstalled.
I have set the unit as a small and/or larger unit and sent to fusion and tried to reset the calibration that way, then set it to the correct length, 23”, and attempted recalibrating manuallly with same issue of never settling and values beyond that of even the 23” of the unit.
I have disconnected and reconnected the LLS, once it was not fully seated in the FMM but that was not the issue.
I have connected the LLS to a different FMM and that did not work.
I have done all of these things about three or four times in different combinations.

HOW on earth is one supposed to get this thing working properly?
Is it just a bad unit and I should try my luck at returning and buying another?

Is it fine for the calibration being done in tap water? Does it have to be saltwater?

Thank you in advance for any help and happy holidays!

This is probably an obvious question, but have you turned off the flow to your tank and let it settle for a few minutes?
I am doing the calibration in a floral vase.
One of my initial queries was whether or not it needs to be calibrated in salt water.

I'd try calibrating it where it's going to eventually be setup. The new LLS is one of the sensors I'm going to be adding to my own tank shortly (early 2023) to replace an optical sensor in my RO reservoir - so apologies for not having any firsthand working knowledge of it.

It’s going in my skimmate bucket. Just didn’t want to waste all that water and time for calibration doing it in a 7g bucket
