Just got a beautiful peacock mantis. I have him alone in a 6 gallon eclipse acrylic tank. Extremely cool to watch, and very agressive :) Anyone else keeping them? Those zebra ones are wicked cool also.

They are pretty darn cool, however they will need a much bigger footprint than a 6 gallon. Peacock's get big!

I used to have a Neogonadactylus Wennarae, but it died during a failed molt. It was blood red in color and had a wonderfully passive personality.

I replaced him recently with a bright green Gonadactylus Smithii. More aggresive, but an absolutely gorgeous mantis. I would love to keep a peacock as well, but maybe that's a future critter!

Yeah, i know he will need a bigger tank :) The 6 gallon is only temporary, and he isn't too big yet.

Don't have one yet. I have a 6 gallon pico that would be perfect for a smaller mantis.

Old thread, but I wanna bump it with some pics. Used to have an O. havanensis until a tank move killed it.

Before that one, I was sent a wrong species which was G. chiragra which I didn't keep long as it's a reclusive species.

Here's my N. wennerae. I had a G. chiragra (gave away) and two peacocks but they both died during bad molts.
