Anyone know what happened to my duncan? Two of the polyps look torn apart I believe there are no predatoty pests as I used dry rock and all corals were dipped. Tank has had corals in fo 5 days. There was a small wavemaker pointed at it, could it be too much flow that caused this?
Water has
ph of 8.1
KH7 will buffer over the next week
Amonia 0.25ppm was Zero a few days ago so I will do a 30% water change now
Ok SALINITY!! just checked in between typing it is a hair under 3! I just cheked my stored water and salt water was misslabled as RO water! am just heating some RO water (I tasted it this time)
OK, I have my parameters going well or at least going in the right direction.
After all that. what distroyed my Duncans was my own lack of knowlege
I have been told that I put the Duncans too high in the tank and too close to the light, bottom line is I burnt them, the analogy with a Red headed white skinned person with freckles sunbaking for 3 hours at the beachin Australia in mid summer.
I have been heavily researching lighting and the recommended lighting for each coral species taking into account what light they were aclimated to before I buy them where possible.
I do not feel good about my ignorance...........so much to learn
