I recently got a favia that has starting growing worms or something else that looks almost like roots. I dipped it before putting into my main tank. They were clean at the time and now these have been growing for about two weeks. I’ve searched but have no idea what they are. Should I pull on them with tweezers? Another dip? Cover in super glue? I’m new to reefing and looking for any advice

Thanks so much for your responses!!!! I’m going to pull them off with tweezers now. I was worried it was some kind of worm growing.

Definitely an algae, the good thing about that one is it looks rigid enough that you can identify where the base is and remove it from there. I used Hydrogen Peroxide on a q-tip making sure to not touch the flesh of my candy canes when I had this issue as well. Best of luck!

Hard to tell from pic, but may be bryopsis algae especially if it has a "feathery" look and structure. If so, can be a pain to get rid of and search this forum for some treatment options. Good luck.

It looks like the byropsis I had, oddly enough I bought a new CUC when I noticed it and they were apparently starving from the trip. Completely ripped it apart.
